Paying off debt can be confusing. Follow Mariana’s lead to make the process as easy as possible.

Mariana was struggling under a mound of debt and felt helpless about what to do. It is 100% normal to feel overwhelmed in this situation. Few people know the best course of action when facing a large credit card balance and unfortunately many choose to do nothing, only making the problem worse.

3 Steps Mariana Took to reduce her debt.

Decide to take action.  Mariana knew her debt was out of control. She didn’t know exactly what she had to do, but decided then and there that she wanted to be debt-free. This may sound like a small step but it is one of the most important things you can do if you’re in debt. As soon as she decided she wanted to be debt free, Mariana was free to build a plan to reach her goal. Take the first step!

Start small. Looking at a large debt balance left Mariana confused and unsure if it was even possible. The easiest way to start making a large difference is to start small. Mariana looked at her budget and realized that she could spare an extra $5 per month above her minimum payment. That’s great! It may sound small, but small actions can make a big difference if done continuously over time.

Continuously improve. The great thing about deciding to take action and starting small, is that it gives you the motivation to keep going and make bigger and bigger actions. After a few months, Mariana realized that not only could she contribute $5 to her debt, she could comfortably pay off an additional $10! These small changes allowed to her save hundreds of dollars of interest over time.
